I'm Amanda Olson from, and I'm a physical therapist specializing in pelvic floor dysfunction.

A common question that we get at is, “How soon after delivering a baby can you start using the weights?”

The general parameter is six to eight weeks, to allow the body to heal.

That is for both cesarean section and vaginal delivery of the baby.

But I find that a lot of women have more success, and are feeling a lot better with the weights, at around the three-month mark.

So there can just be a little bit of additional healing that happens between six weeks and 12 weeks that can make you feel a bit more comfortable.

But, if you are feeling great after six weeks, then it's generally safe to go ahead and use them.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you're nursing, the body is going to be in a lower estrogen state, which can lead to dryness in the vagina.

So one thing that you can do is use just a little bit of lubricant on the end of the weight.

You don't necessarily want to coat the weight in the lubricant, because that'll make it very slippery, and it can fall out, which will be very frustrating.

So put just a little bit on the tip, to make it a bit more comfortable when you're inserting it.
