How does GLP-1 treatment work?
GLP-1 treatment helps with weight loss by making you feel full and reducing your appetite. It mimics a natural hormone that signals your brain when you're full, helping you eat less and make healthier choices, which can support weight loss when combined with healthy eating and physical activity. Individual results vary.
What medications might my provider prescribe?
Your provider will determine which medication, formulation, and dose is appropriate for you based on your health profile, medical history, and goals.
Treatment options may include:
Compounded Semaglutide — a GLP-1 receptor agonist
Compounded Tirzepatide — a GLP-1 and GIP receptor agonist
Each medication works on appetite and digestion pathways, with some differences in mechanism. Your provider will discuss which option is appropriate for you and answer your questions.
If prescribed, you'll receive a compounded formulation prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved.
What other lifestyle changes should I make with GLP-1?
Healthy lifestyle habits can support your weight loss journey alongside GLP-1 treatment: focus on nutritious eating, staying hydrated, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep. GLP-1 is just one piece of the puzzle—sustainable changes in your daily habits can help you reach your goals and support your overall well-being.
*Treatment plans, if prescribed, may include compounded formulations of semaglutide or tirzepatide. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been evaluated by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality.

Frequently Asked Questions
We've got your answers.
How long does it take to notice weight loss?
Weight loss varies significantly from person to person and depends on starting weight, dose, adherence, diet, exercise, and other individual factors. Some patients notice changes within weeks; others take longer.
The CDC generally considers gradual weight loss — about 1 to 2 pounds per week — to be a healthy, sustainable rate for most adults. Your provider will discuss realistic expectations with you based on your individual health profile and goals.
What is a compounded GLP-1 medication?
Compounded GLP-1 medications are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies, typically to meet a specific patient's needs (for example, a dosing form or strength not commercially available).
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and have not been evaluated by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. The compounding pharmacies we work with are state-licensed and operate under applicable state and federal regulations. Discuss any questions about compounded medications with your provider before starting treatment.
What are the common side effects of GLP-1?
Common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, and reduced appetite — especially when starting treatment.
Less common but more serious risks include pancreatitis, gallbladder problems, kidney issues, and severe allergic reactions. GLP-1 medications carry a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors observed in animal studies and should not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, or during pregnancy. Discuss your full medical history with your provider before starting treatment.
How does GLP-1 treatment work?
GLP-1 medications mimic a natural hormone that helps regulate appetite and signal fullness to your brain. By reducing hunger and cravings, GLP-1 treatment can support weight loss when combined with healthy eating and physical activity. Individual results vary.
How is GLP-1 treatment administered?
GLP-1 medications can be administered orally or through injection, depending on what your provider prescribes. Weekly injections use a small needle and can be given in the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Oral options are taken daily. Your provider will walk you through proper administration and answer any questions.
What lifestyle changes should I make while on GLP-1 treatment?
Healthy lifestyle habits can support your weight loss journey alongside GLP-1 treatment: focus on nutritious eating, staying hydrated, regular physical activity, and adequate sleep. GLP-1 is just one piece of the puzzle—sustainable changes in your daily habits can help you reach your goals and support your overall well-being.
Can GLP-1 treatment be combined with other medications?
Your provider needs to know about all medications, supplements, and health conditions before determining whether GLP-1 treatment is appropriate for you. Some medications can interact with GLP-1s. Share your full medical history and medication list with your provider during the assessment so they can identify any potential interactions or contraindications.
Can I feel secure receiving weight loss treatment through Intimate Rose?
Yes. After you complete the online assessment, a licensed provider reviews your health profile and medical history to determine whether GLP-1 treatment may be appropriate for you. If treatment isn't a good fit, your provider will tell you and may suggest alternatives. Your information is kept confidential in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and any prescribed medication is prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy.
Does Intimate Rose accept insurance?
No, Intimate Rose does not accept insurance — all prescriptions are cash-pay. However, our weight loss program is HSA/FSA eligible, and you may be able to submit your receipt to your insurance for potential reimbursement, depending on your plan.
Is compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide the same as Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, or Zepbound®?
No. Compounded semaglutide and compounded tirzepatide contain the same active ingredients as the FDA-approved brand-name medications (Ozempic®, Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, Zepbound®), but they are not generic versions of those products and are not therapeutically equivalent.
Compounded medications are prepared by licensed compounding pharmacies and have not been reviewed by FDA for safety, effectiveness, or quality. Your provider can discuss the differences with you during your consultation.

Risk Information: GLP-1 receptor agonists carry a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors observed in animal studies; the relevance to humans is not known. Do not use GLP-1 medications if you or a family member have a history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2, or if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
