In 2008, Amanda found herself enduring a personal and tragic accident while on a camping trip with her husband and friends. She sustained a dislocation to her coccyx and significant damage to the muscles, tendons and ligaments of her pelvic floor after a 40 foot fall.
Fortunately, Amanda saw a pelvic physical therapist who used a comprehensive evaluation, manual techniques and exercises to completely cure her within six months. She healed without further issues, and went on to deliver two baby boys naturally.
The next year, she shifted her focus from pediatrics to pelvic physical therapy. Dr. Amanda spent seven years studying to be a physical therapist and four additional years earning her CAPP-PF (Certification of Advanced Practitioner Practice in Pelvic Floor) by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Dr. Amanda was also one of the first 33 people in the nation to pass the PRPC (Pelvic Rehabilitation Practitioner Certification) board certification through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Institute. For this exam, candidates must have 2,000 hours of pelvic-specific practice on patients.
-“ I hit the water in a seated position and had to be fished out of the river by my husband like a bug out of a pool, I couldn’t sit for several months. ”--Amanda Olson, DPT, PRPC reach out to us, we can help.
Today, Dr. Amanda specializes in treating pelvic floor disorders including incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic pain and pregnancy-related issues. She’s also the author of Restoring the Pelvic Floor For Women: How Kegel Exercises, Vaginal Training, & Relaxation Solve Incontinence, Constipation, and Heal Pelvic Pain to Avoid Surgery, as well as holding the role of President/Chief Clinical Officer for Intimate Rose.
Dr. Amanda’s expertise combined with the innovation of Aaron Wilt, CEO of Intimate Rose, resulted in the creation of the Intimate Rose dilators and pelvic wand. Using his original proprietary medical grade silicone which she acknowledged was a “game changer”, together they knew the dilators and wand could advance and support millions of women in pain.
Dr. Amanda also curated many of the other Intimate Rose products including the balm which is made 20 minutes from her hometown of Portland, OR.
Aaron Wilt is a husband, father, entrepreneur, mentor, and author. He has developed several brands within the healthcare industry, viewing this contribution as a way of giving back since he has overcome health challenges himself, including Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
It is important to Aaron to develop brands that offer significant support and solutions to others’ health challenges, as well as to financially support many health organizations including St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Aaron is also well known for having a strong passion and commitment to being a sports coach and mentor.
